The case of
Parwiz Kambakhsh, a reporter for the local newspaper, “Jahan-e Now,” and
a student at Balkh University, requires the
urgent attention of journalists and activists for freedom of expression.
Kambakhs
was accused and has been unlawfully detained for three months for possessing an
article, which discussed controversial verses of The Holy Quran regarding
women’s rights.
We believe
that the government of Afghanistan and his Excellency president Karzai has an
important responsibility to secure free speech for journalists, especially in
the area of religion, like the world’s leading democracies.
We pledge
our support for and call on Mr. Karzai to work for the immediate release of Mr.
Kambakhsh. He has strong support among those who care about freedom of speech
and democracy, and they are distributing the facts of this case world-wide.

آقای کامبخش به اتهام گرفتن مقاله ای از انترنت که
گفته می شود در آن به اسلام اهانت شده است, ماه هاست که به شکل غیر قانونی در
بازداشت به سر می برد.
ما بر این باوریم که دولت افغانستان و شخص
آقای
حامد کرزی در قبال تامین آزادی بیان برای روزنامه نگاران, بويژه در موارد دین و
مذهب مسولیت بزرگ ملی و انسانی دارند.
ما بر حمایت خود از پرویز کامبخش تاکید نموده واز شخص
خود آقای کرزی خواهانیم تا در آزادی فوری و بدون قید وشرط این خبرنگار جوان تلاش
نمایند. پرویز کامبخش حمایت وسیع آنهایی را که به آزادی بیان و دموکراسی باور
کامل دارند را داشته و آن ها در پخش این حقیقت در سرتاسر جهان تلاش خواهند
کرد.

suportar a liberação imediata de um jovem journalista afghan
Parwiz Kambakhsh é um repórter de um jornal local, de "Jahan-e Now,"
estudante da universidade de Balkh, requer a atenção urgente dos journalistas e
dos ativistas para a liberdade da expressão.
Kambakhs foi acusado e foi detido ilegalmente por três meses por possuir um
artigo, que discutí-se versos controversos do
Quran holy a respeito dos direitos das mulheres.

I am a master of sience in Artificial Intelligent in Iran , i think it would be a great disaster that in "Free AFghanistan" , a student ! a a journalist ! or even a young man , being murdered for his idea ! for his blief ! ...
i heard a lot of good things about you President , i hope that you can stop these silent killers ! ... I am sure that you know our great poet , Ferdowsi , he said that : "speech can not distroy the world !" ( ze goftar viran nagardad jahan !) ... if you really belive this intelectual idea , please release this intelectual man !
and even you do not belive this, think about your countries’ reputation in the World ! ... do you think that any investor , target your countary after this ? ...

I am a student of university. According to me Mr. Kambakhsh is not guilty. He should be released very soon. Being in custody is just wasting of his time. Because i am a student i can understand what Mr. Kambakhsh feels when these people waste his time by keeping him in prison. So please release him and let him continue his studies. i personally want to declare my support towards Mr. Kambakhsh. Regards

Have the Taliban really been overthrown in Afghanistan? It certainly doesn’t seem like it, since the sentence given to Pervez Kambakhsh is every bit as barbaric, ignorant and narrow-minded as any they could have handed out. Freedom of speech is a universal human right. Release Pervez Kambakhsh now!

It is not easy to find the courage and to raise your voice as a journalist in the countries of Mid East or southern Asia.
As a Correspondent for the Greek Television in Mid East the last 8 years i kept my self and my mouth quiet a lot of times, just because i had to respect the traditions or the local ethical rules.
Few other times i cross the red thin line and i found my self loosing friends and partners.
Whatever...right or wrong it does ’t matter.
Parwiz Kambakhsh he proof as an independent journalist that he can raise he’s voice.
I don’t really believe that Hamid Karzai will not aprove the immediate release of a young Afghan Journalist, but on the other hand who ever visit the country can understand how dificult the balances there.
Politics-tradition-Ethical rules-Freedom of Speech.
There is no question.Freedom of Speech. Freedom to him. Now.
